Ioannis Psycharis (Assoc. Professor, NTUA)

He doctorated from Caltech and authored numerous papers on a variety of earthquake engineering related aspects, especially on the seismic response of modern structures and monuments. A significant part of his work concerns the dynamic behavior of rocking structures, rigid or flexible, a topic that he has investigated for more than 25 years. During the last 15 years he is also conducting research on the seismic response of classical monuments. I. Psycharis has been very active in the area of evaluating the seismic performance of ancient structures and monuments. Since the application on monuments of new strategies is one of our key goals, he is essential in the parametric investigation of the performance of such structures, ultimately leading to the development of appropriate isolation methodologies [WP 2, WP5 and WP8].
